Its run time is 124 minutes. In January 2014, Universal Pictures had announced that Colin Trevorrow would direct the next Jurassic Park installment. Trevorrow said that the script for the film had been written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Derek Connolly, and Patrick Crowley. On August 28, 2014 Trevorrow was confirmed to direct the film. On December 13, 2014 Trevorrow was confirmed to be co-directing with Derek Connolly. On March 15, 2015 Trevorrow announced his departure from directing of Jurassic World saying "I'm thrilled to be moving on from "Jurassic World" but remain extremely proud of our collaborators on the film". He stated that he was on board with plans to have Colin Trevorrow direct the film's second installment on September 4th 2015 at CinemaCon 2016. This is stated in both their contracts. On February 10, 2017, the date of the film's release was pushed back to June 22, 2018, with Dan Lin producing. From 2011 to 2015 Colin Trevorrow wrote several drafts of the film. It was originally scheduled for release on December 18, 2015. Then it was pushed back to June 11, 2016. On March 1, 2015 Trevorrow said that the script was about 95% finished. By April 13th it had completed its final draft and was ready to begin filming. On November 22nd 2014 John Pomeroy announced that he would be co-writing this film with Colin Trevorrow saying "Colin has done an amazing job informing his process for writing "Jurassic World".
